Since we've been in Thailand, we've been trying more and more food.
That means at the beginning of our trip, we started with "let's go to a restaurant with Western food," and now after three weeks, we've transitioned to "I'm not sure what could be inside this ball... Let's eat it."
In the restaurants on Koh Lanta, you could get very good Western food (pizza, burgers, noodles). So, at the beginning, we ate a lot on the beach and even spent 50€ for a meal and a few cocktails. Gradually, we started going to restaurants that weren't on the beach. It was much cheaper up the road, and we could have our experiences with curry 🍛, steamed rice, and various vegetables and chicken. Thai food is cheaper and incredibly delicious.
After a few days, we also tried the small kitchens built on a scooter. Here, we could get a very tasty meal for just a few euros and even grab a pancake for dessert.
We also had the opportunity to try new things at one of the night markets.
One evening, the three of us chose a large fish and then bought a few side dishes until the fish was ready on the grill in a salt crust (which I then dissected with a spoon).
Upon arriving in Krabi, we were able to grab a bite to eat at some small stalls at the pier in the evening.
From February 13th to 15th, Valentine's Day was naturally celebrated. There were a few places where you could take cute pictures, two stages with live music, and, as expected, many small food stalls like at the night market.
We took the opportunity and started indulging ourselves at the stalls. With more or less knowledge of what we were ordering, but it's delicious. BBQ sticks with chicken and chili, or small dumplings filled with cheese and vegetables. Samosas with various fillings and different curries.
Now it's February 14th, and it's 1 p.m. I'm trying rice with vegetables, but Janine hasn't been able to think about eating since last night... She's lying in bed and resting, except when she's on the toilet. Luckily, we have charcoal tablets with us. After 10 hours, she's feeling better.
We want to tell you more about the food here, but for now, we'll dial back on the food experiments.
